What is the Research Computing Center?
The Research Computing Center, or RCC, is a collaboration between the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the Chief Information Officer. It is adminstered bt EITS and the Office of Research Services.
The mission of the RCC is to provide and support research computing and communications resources that enhance the productivity of researchers at UGA, enable UGA researchers to accelerate the rate of new scientific and artistic breakthroughs, enable collaborative research between UGA researchers and their peers at other research institutions, and provide effective access to information sources throughout the world.
Who Can Use RCC Services?
Access to the RCC's resources is restricted to UGA faculty and staff who are granted RCC accounts.
How Can I Request an RCC Account?
Lab Groups
User accounts are created as part of a "lab group" which has been registered by a Principal Investigator (PI) via the Group Registration Form. Once the group is registered, the PI will receive an email stating that he/she and members of his/her group may request their individual user accounts.
The Group Registration Form is located here:
https://rcc.uga.edu/accounts/lab_head.php
- NOTE: MyID authentication is required to acces this form.
User Accounts
To obtain a user account, fill out and submit the Account Creation Request Form. A list of registered lab groups is on that form. You will be notified via email when the account has been created.
The Account Creation Request Form can be found here:
https://rcc.uga.edu/accounts/index.php
- NOTE: MyID authentication is required to acces this form.
What of Applications Does the RCC Offer?
The applications that the RCC offers can be divided into several large categories:
Bioinformatics
A number of software applications used in bioinformatics research are maintained on the RCC computing hardware, and are supported by the RCC's consulting staff. These include commercial, public-domain, and home-grown applications which cover a diverse array of computational methods.
A complete list of these applications can be found here:
http://www.rcc.uga.edu/applications/bioinformatics/index.html
Computational Chemistry
A number of software applications used in computational Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Modeling, etc, are installed on the RCC computing hardware. These include commercial, public-domain, and home-grown applications.
A complete list of the applications can be found here:
http://www.rcc.uga.edu/applications/computationalChemistry/index.html
Computational Physics
A number of code development and optimization tools, and math libraries used in computational physics and astrophysics are available on the RCC computing hardware, and are supported by the RCC's consulting staff.
A complete list of the applications can be found here:
