The campus Password Policy requires a password change regularly. We take advantage of this requirement in order to keep our hosting accounts up-to-date. Hosting account passwords expire every 182 days. Here is the schedule of accounting actions that are taken based on password expirations

  • Warning email sent 30, 15, 5, and 1 day prior to expiration
  • Expiration notice sent on the day of expiration
  • Content is "unpublished" 90 days after expiration
  • Content is archived 183 days after expiration (365 days since password change)

After a password expires, content cannot be modified until the password is changed. "Unpublished" means that site visitors will see a 403 forbidden message instead of site content.

If site administrators change, be sure to notify the EITS Help Desk so that future warning messages reach the proper people.
